Lee Wulff and Lady Joan

I've always have found it interesting where this part-time art hobby of mine has taken my work.

I always painted for myself primarily, if people like my work, perfect. If not, that's okay too.

All of my work is based on subjects I find interesting, primarily Newfoundland history, seascapes, and landscapes, etc.

On occasion, I've incorporated other interests, golf and salmon fishing to name two.

Back in 2014 I completed a painting of Lee Wulff. If you don't know who Lee Wulff was please click here. Lee_Wulff

Lee was widely regarded as the grandfather of modern fly fishing and spent a great deal of time in Newfoundland back in the 30's and 40's promoting fishing and hunting. His influence on fly fishing from his videos and books cannot be dismissed.

Lee was married to Joan Salvato Wulff who is equal in every respect to Lee in her influence on fly fishing and is widely known as the "First Lady of Fly Fishing". Please click here. Joan_Wulff

Fast forward to 2019 when I received a text from the family member whom bought the original Lee Wulff painting and wanted a reproduction of the image for a special individual. That individual just happened to be Joan Wulff whom she befriended in Florida.

Never to let an opportunity go by I sent an additional copy to see if Joan would sign it for me and lucky for me she did.

From what I understand, the copy Joan was given will end up in the Wulff Gallery at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum in up state New York. How cool is that?

Like I said many times, I never know where my stuff will end up!
